SAFETY AND CERTIFICATIONS, WIRE HARNESS ASSEMBLY

Consistency as well as accurate Wire Harness Testing contributes significantly to our successful customer relationships.

Especially since wire Harness Manufacturing and Assembly runs through our veins.

As a result, we have built literally millions upon millions of Wire Harnesses over the past 35 years. Many of our teammates say they could build a wire harness in their sleep (Is this why they started bringing their pillows to work?).

However, on a serious note, Quality Inspection and Testing is a core process with every order.

Wire Harness Testing Check List

Due to the nature of electrical currents, live wires may cause serious injuries. Unfortunately, these injuries include electrical shocks or burns.

These issues can also cause severe damage to machinery and equipment. Some of this damage will be a minor inconvenience. However, in other cases, faulty wires can be responsible for major failures. Therefore, causing irreparable damage to equipment as well as finished products. Furthermore, it can cause damage to other equipment. This is in addition to potential property in the surrounding area.

Therefore, wire harness testing is absolutely critical.

Especially, testing for proper connections, as well as, inspecting for potential damage to the insulation jacket.

When performing Wire Harness Testing, our quality control department strictly follows the IPC/WHMA-A-620 Standard. This standard is a collection of visual and measured Quality Acceptability Requirements.

These standards include connector application as well as Cable, Wire, and Harness Assemblies.

Below includes a check list for testing a wire harness assemblies:

  1. Accurate Labeling
  2. Check for Damaged Insulation or Defective Wires
  3. Continuity
  4. Correct Wire Gauge
  5. Proper connectors and terminals
  6. Free of Moisture and Corrosion
  7. Optimum Wire Placement Within Connectors
  8. Pull Testing
  9. Conducting tests for Broken Wires
  10. Test for Shorts

Each of these 10 steps help to ensure that our customers are receiving the best product.
